Title: Recovery capital model: substance use and process addictions (SUPR)

Principal Investigator: Victoria Burns (University of Calgary)

Co-investigators/collaborators:

Dr Andrew Szeto, Ashley Ethier (University of Calgary)

Description: The proposed study will explore the following three research questions, framed within the RC model: 1) What is the prevalence, range, and harms of SUPs experienced by Alberta post-secondary students? 2) What is perceived stigma of addiction? 3) What are the characteristics of SUPs and recovery and the supports and barriers in starting and
maintaining recovery? The SUPR study will utilize an online survey to assess the experiences of post-secondary students recruited from various post-secondary institutions (PSIs) in Alberta. Participants will be recruited through online advertisements (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) and informational posters at treatment services, support groups, and the 26 PSIs participating in the Recovery on Campus Advisory Committee. Additional recruitment will occur via university communication channels, including D2L, faculty email lists, and student platforms.
